excuse me can i be you for a while

-

i just got home from soccer cip
so-called soccer cip lah

eh basically we just go to ftps to give tuition to those who are taking their O levels soon
and i guess i learnt more than those whom i gave tuition to.
hrms haha.

i was in charge of these 2 boys, one doing math and one doing chem
at first i was only teaching the one doing math,
cos the other guy said tt he's just reading his chem book
so dont need help.

erm so i thought to myself,
hey this guy shld be quite okay with his chem, whoa like revising already..not bad

after teaching the guy some maths and stuff,
(while making loads of mistakes and kena pointed out and laughed at)
i asked the chem guy whether he needed help again

it turns out he didnt know a shit about chem,
and he admitted that he doesnt even know the basics and stuff
which is why he's reading the chem guidebook instead of attempting the qns

SO, given that he only has 17 days left to his 'O's,
i told him to mug at least stoichio and acids/bases/salts first.
after this i just concentrated on teaching him chem..
cos he obviously needed more help what right

and even though this guy like spikes his hair and stuff,
his face actually looks quite guai one
plus he really listens to what i'm teaching him.

then towards the end of the session,
while doing a qn, he said to me without looking up

"actually i just came to this school last month"
"really meh? don't bluff." (cos they lied to me abt smth a while ago)
"really really. i was from this school, then i left and i just came back last month"
"huh? okay where did you go?"
"somewhere which you'll be scared of one."
"er okay what."
"prison"
"why what did you do"
"oh i took drugs."

oh mannnnn
i sort of saw this coming halfway through the conversation,
but still, sigh.

and suddenly all my problems that i thought i had seemed so trivial
like whatever we're handling is some chicken feed
cos other people who are our age are dealing with time in prison,
trying to pass their chem 'O' levels without an inkling of what the mole concept is,
and quitting drug addictions.

i really want to go back to continue teaching him
and make sure that he gets his stoichio right,
remembers the impt equations,
memorizes the necessary terms and phrases..

ahh see how la.
right now all i want to do is to teach him chemmmmmmmm

toodles!

love,
hannah
